You want snow? Head south, head west...

Jason Samenow @ 12:00 AM

Today will be partly sunny and cool in our Nation's Capital. At the same time, believe it or not, our neighbors in the Tarheel state will be experiencing a major winter storm. Areas west of Raleigh may really get hammered. Look at this model forecast of estimated snowfall between now and Saturday (the olive color indicates 10", the yellow color 15", the red 20"). For a variety of reasons, I think the estimate is overdone. But anyway you slice it, there are likely to be some impressive snows in that part of the country.

Is that not enough snow for you? Then check out this forecast for Lake Tahoe (forwarded to me by Kevin Shaw) from yesterday, where they will be measuring the snow in FEET amidst hurricane force winds at the high peaks.
