Record cold?

Jason Samenow @ 10:53 PM

Clear skies, light winds, dry air and a Canadian high overhead -- all the ingredients for record cold. Dulles Airport could set a new record low tonight-- 17 is the current record, which was set back in 1969. Do I hear 15?

In terms of our forecast contest, it will be an interesting night. Six of the contestants, including yours truly, called for no snow this month with monthly low estimates ranging from 22 to 33. Most areas will be in the low 20s tonight (mid to high teens in normally colder suburbs), but Reagan National typically is warmer than just about anywhere, so I'm liking Brian's forecast low of 24. We'll see... (FWIW, the record low at Reagan is 16--that's safe, I guarantee it)

One more chilly day tomorrow before the big warm-up. Even tomorrow won't feel so bad with the wind dying down some.
