Front approaches

Jason Samenow @ 1:34 PM

Expect a partly cloudy and seasonably cool afternoon ahead of a cold front the will move through overnight (bad news for Geminid watchers). By late this afternoon or early evening, there is a slight chance of shower, that could even mix with snow west of DC. Says the National Weather Service:
THERE IS A CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS DEVELOPING LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING ROUGHLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 66. THESE RAIN SHOWERS MAY END AS LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS...PARTICULARLY WEST OF WASHINGTON AND BALTIMORE. WHILE LITTLE OR NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE...COMMUNITIES WEST OF THE BLUE RIDGE MAY SEE MINOR ACCUMULATIONS.
Below is a nice cloud scene from yesterday taken by CapitalWeather.com photographer Kevin Ambrose...
