Mild week ahead

Jason Samenow @ 8:10 AM

It's winter weather preparedness week in Virginia and DC wants you to prepare for winter according to DCist, but it's not going to feel much like winter anywhere in the region...

Today may be the chilliest day of the work week. Expect morning showers and then overcast skies the rest of the day. The high will be around 50.

Tomorrow will be rainy in the morning as a warm front moves through. During the afternoon, it will be mostly cloudy, and mild, with highs reaching the low 60s.

High pressure builds in Wednesday, so expect sunny skies, with highs in the upper 50s. More of the same for Thursday.

By Friday, a pretty strong cold front will approach from the northwest, bringing a chance of showers late. Highs look to be in the low to mid 50s. After the cold front passes Friday night, it should turn turn blustery and colder for next weekend.

Off topic: Last night, I saw Twyla Tharp's "Movin' Out" at the National Theater. You'll like the show if you enjoy Billy Joel's songs and/or acrobatic dance musicals. If you're looking for dialogue, choruses and a 'Mamma Mia' kind of experience, then you'll be disappointed. In 'Movin Out', one soloist accompanied by a band cover twenty something Billy Joel songs that, coupled with the dance ensemble, tell a loosely woven story that tracks the lives of a group of high schoolers before, during and after Vietnam. I give it 3 stars (out of four). The show plays at the National through December 19.
