Snow Photos

Kevin Ambrose @ 9:16 AM

The morning sun shines on a snowman (above) and geese on a pond during the snowstorm in Fairfax County (below).

This was a heavy, wet snow that either clung to everything it touched or melted quickly on contact. In many areas, it created a winter wonderland effect by coating trees, bushes, etc. In addition, the snow was perfect for making snowballs and snowmen. Above is a snowman made Monday, then coated by snow that fell overnight. Below are a pair of geese on a pond in Oakton, VA.

Regarding the comments about busted forecasts, many of us remember March 2001 when D.C. had a forecast of 6-12" of snow and we ended up with a beautiful, sunny day. Now that is a real forecast bust!
