TODAY AND THE WEEKEND

Today will be pretty nice overall. Expect a fair amount of sunshine with temperatures reaching the mid 50s.

On Saturday, clouds will increase, with some showers possible late in the afternoon and overnight. Highs on Saturday should be in the low 50s.

Sunday looks to be mostly cloudy with some widely scattered showers (not a washout), with highs again in the low 50s.
For all intents and purposes, winter is done. Days when temperatures don't at least reach 50 degrees are numbered and we've probably seen our last of accumulating snow. While we may have some cool, raw days (and even another wet snowflake or two), it's now time to get into the spring mode.

But before you pack away your skis, you might be interested in knowing that some of the local ski areas are offering 2-for-1 lift tickets this weekend. Whitetail and Liberty have coupons you can print off their websites. These areas still have quite a few trails open, so it may be worth one last day trip.

Courtesy National Weather ServiceOnto spring. The National Weather Service predicts we have a 55% likelihood of seeing above average temperatures this spring. To me, there's not a lot of added value in that forecast since it suggests it could almost as easily be colder than average -- so take the forecast for what it's worth. I will say that if we're going to have a mild spring, the pattern better change quickly since 26 of the last 30 days have been colder than average (statistic courtesy Weather53 at EasternUsWx.com).

Friday weather humor
I won't always be able to find a funny weather video to show on Friday. When I don't I'll try to post some attempt at weather humor. This attempt is rather weak, but it's consistent with this post's theme: Hackers Delay First Day of Spring (TheSpoof.com)
