STRONG WINDS LIKELY WITH OVERNIGHT LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS

*As highlighted by Josh and Camden in previous posts, strong cold front will trigger storms overnight.

*Line of storms with strong winds now approaching area. Storms most likely to affect region from 1:15am (southwest suburbs) to 2:30am (northeast suburbs).

*Severe thunderstorm warnings now being issue (Orange County, VA at 12:30) to our southwest. Click here for latest warnings.

*Possible impacts:
  • Wind gusts of 40mph likely -- isolated 60-75mph gusts possible
  • Heavy rain
  • Lightning

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE OVER OVERNIGHT FOLLOWED BY COLDER TEMPERATURES AND A CHANCE OF SNOW SATURDAY NIGHT...

LOW PRESSURE OVER THE EASTERN GREAT LAKES WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EASTWARD OVERNIGHT. A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO CROSS THE AREA BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING...ACCOMPANIED BY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. SOME OF THE STORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME SEVERE...PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.

AREAS ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM BALTIMORE MARYLAND TO WASHINGTON DC TO CHARLOTTESVILLE VIRGINIA WILL BE THE MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THE SEVERE WEATHER. DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH ARE POSSIBLE WITH A FEW OF THESE STORMS OVERNIGHT. THE MOST LIKELY TIME FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE BETWEEN 10 PM AND 6 AM
