The week ahead: Baseball and blue skies

Some of the season's finest weather is on tap this week -- just in time for the Nats to open their home schedule (see our exclusive NatCast at the bottom of the post). All in all, pleasant temperatures and dry conditions will be the rule, with just a couple days offering a slight chance of a stray shower (late Wednesday and late Saturday). Today


With high pressure centered over the area, after quite a cold start (many areas will experience frost), plentiful sunshine will allow temperatures to reach the low 60s . Overnight, it will be clear and cool, with lows in the low 40s downtown and the mid 30s in the suburbs.

Tuesday


High pressure will begin to move offshore and winds will become more southerly. High temperatures will moderate into the upper 60s. Tuesday night will be seasonable--with clear skies and lows from the mid 40s downtown to near 40 in the suburbs.

Wednesday


A weak cold front will approach late in the day, resulting in increasing clouds. Temperatures will remain mild, with highs near 70. There's a 20% of a stray shower or two late in the day. Overnight, there may be a lingering shower, with temperatures dropping to 45-50.

Thursday


Weak high pressure will build in from the south and temperatures will remain mild. Expect partly sunny skies, with highs in the low 70s. Overnight conditions should be clear with lows 45-50.

Friday


As the weak high moves off the Southeast coast and the flow becomes more southerly, conditions will become even warmer, with highs in the mid 70s. Lows overnight should be near 50.


Saturday


Another weak cold front will move through the area, possibly triggering off a shower or thundershower late in the afternoon. But the bulk of the day will be dry and mild, with highs in mid 70s. Overnight, it will remain mild, with lows 50-55.

Sunday


Weak high pressure will again likely be the rule, with high temperatures near average -- in the upper 60s.

Climatology


The average high this week is the mid to upper 60s with average lows in the mid 40s.
