A Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning. There is window of opportunity to be outside from late this morning through mid to late afternoon. After that, it all goes downhill.
Today
Heavy rain/t'storms developing in the afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) describes the situation well:
A STATIONARY FRONT ACROSS THE MID ATLANTIC WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ALONG THE FRONT...BRINGING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN. SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY MOVE REPEATEDLY ACROSS THE SAME AREA...WHICH COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING.
NWS sees the potential for 2-4" of rain through Sunday with locally higher amounts -- seems about right to me. High temperatures will be near a sticky 80.
Booz Allen Classic Outlook: The tournament is teeing off on both nines at 7am (on holes 1 and 10) to try and get everything done before the rain. This means that most of the golf will be done by NOON! This is a good idea as rain/storms will develop mid to late afternoon. As of right now, Sunday looks like it could be a washout.
Sunday
Rain and t'storm threat all day. More waves of rain will move through the area, and some rain will be locally heavy. There may well be a lull or two in the activity--but planning outdoor activities will be difficult. High temperatures will again be near 80.
