90° Or Higher Reaches Day 10: And Yet Another?

Jason Samenow @ 8:54 AM

It didn't feel that hot yesterday, but with the full early August sun, the mercury eclipsed the 90° mark for the 10th straight day. We've got at least a 50/50 chance of passing 90° again today.

Today

Forecast Confidence: Very HighSunny and summery. With high pressure over the region, expect abundant sunshine and warm temperatures. High temperatures should range from 89-92 degrees in the area. Humidity levels will be a bit higher than yesterday, but not uncomfortable. All in all, a good beach day. Don't forget the sunscreen.

AccuWeather: New website, same hurricane forecast

AccuWeather.com has launched a new website, which on first impression looks pretty good. It's certainly cleaner looking and more intuitive than the previous version.

Despite the hurricane season's slow start, AccuWeather is not backing down from its forecast of an active season:
Since 1995, there has been an average of 12 named tropical systems after August 3, with 2005 the worst at 19 storms after that date...

...the ingredients that led to the AccuWeather.com forecast are still in place along the East Coast, and the window for the movement of tropical storms into the Northeast is going to open in the "prime time" of the hurricane season that is still ahead.
At present, there are no tropical depressions or storms in the Atlantic Basin, although the remnants of Chris and a disturbance southwest of the Azores are being monitored for further development.
