Next 48 Hours: Muggy, Warm
Thereafter: More Pleasant

Josh Larson @ 1:00 AM

Looks like we're stuck with the mugginess for about the next 48 hours, with mild temperatures in the low 80s and summer-like humidity levels. A cold front will push through by late tomorrow, however, dropping temperatures a notch or two -- and humidity levels even more -- for this weekend into the start of next week.

Today

Forecast Confidence: MediumMuch like yesterday. Expect conditions today to rather closely mirror those of yesterday: fog and low clouds during the morning hours will give way to increasing amounts of sunshine as the day wears on. It will be mostly sunny by afternoon with muggy highs in the low 80s. Mild this evening with a slight chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm, with lows in the mid 60s.

Tomorrow

Forecast Confidence: MediumMore of the same. Picture Friday's weather as very similar to today's forecast, with slightly more in the way of clouds and precipitation chances. We'll call it mostly cloudy with scattered late day showers or thunderstorms with balmy highs in the low to mid 80s. Drying out Friday night, with lows in the low to mid 60s.

The Weekend

Forhttp://www2.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifecast Confidence: High-Very HighLess muggy & cooler. For Saturday, look for mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 70s and crisper overnight lows in the low to mid 50s; I should add that a widely scattered shower cannot be ruled out, especially early in the day, though most places will remain dry. Sunday's forecast calls for continued mostly sunny skies with cooler-still highs in the low to mid 70s with overnight lows primarily in the 50s.

Pattern Overview

The atmospheric influence of subtropical storm Andrea, located off the southern east coast, will keep a generally easterly fetch over the area for the next 48 hours. As such, we'll look for continued muggy conditions with plenty of moisture advecting to our area off the Atlantic. A cold front pushing through late Friday should bring much more pleasant weather to the area for Saturday through at least next Monday. Thereafter, I see what may shape up to be a fairly unsettled weather pattern; as such, forecast confidence for next Tuesday through Friday is decidedly lower than usual.

LARSON'S LONG-RANGE

Next week's forecast
Forecast highs/lows: 74/58 (normal = 75/56)
Forecast precip: Above-normal?

Forecast Confidence: High-Very HighWe'll look for a blend of clouds and sun on Monday, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and overnight lows in the low 60s. Tuesday will likely feature mostly sunny skies with milder highs near 80 and overnight lows in the low to mid 60s. The uncertainty increases for Wednesday, when an approaching cold front may increase clouds as well as chances for precipitation, with slightly cooler highs in the low to mid 70s. From this far vantage point, Thursday and Friday look like they may be rather unsettled with cloudy, cooler, and potentially rainy conditions. Look for highs closer to 70 with overnight lows in the 50s.
