First Fall Feel in the Week Ahead
Warm and humid to start the week

Jason Samenow @ 8:30 AM

After our summer-like weekend and start to the week, September's first taste of fall-like weather will arrive Wednesday thanks to the passage of a strong cold front Tuesday. A brief warm-up will occur Friday into Saturday, before the week's second fall-like cold front delivers another blow to the waning summer season.

A weak front boundary will stall over the region this afternoon and may trigger a shower or two (1 in 4 chance), particularly in the afternoon. Otherwise, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies, high humidity and max temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Mostly cloudy skies overnight, with a 30% chance of showers and lows near 70.

Tuesday

Forecast Confidence: HighMostly cloudy, chance of showers. A disturbance will ride along the stalled out front over the area early, bringing a chance of rain during the morning hours. Skies may brighten a bit during the early to mid afternoon, before a second front gives us a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. High temperatures should be in the low to mid 80s. This second front will gradually clear things out overnight, with conditions becoming cooler and not as humid. Low temperatures should be 60-65 (suburbs-city).

Wednesday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighMostly sunny, quite pleasant. Behind the overnight front, high pressure will begin to build into the area from the northwest. As a result, we'll have mostly sunny skies, a refreshing northwest breeze and enjoyable high temperatures in the upper 70s. Overnight, it will be clear and cool, with lows 55-60 (suburbs-city).

Thursday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighSunny and beautiful. Cool high pressure will be positioned just to the north, delivering another fantastic day. Expect mainly sunny skies, light winds and high temperatures near 80. Clear and cool conditions once again overnight, with lows 55-60 (suburbs-city).

Friday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighPartly cloudy, a bit warmer and more humid. As high pressure moves offshore, the flow will become southerly. The southerly flow will result in a few more clouds, an increase in humidity and somewhat warmer temperatures. An isolated shower can't be ruled out (15-20% chance), but mainly towards the mountains. High temperatures are likely to be in the low to mid 80s. Overnight, it should be partly cloudy and mild, with lows 63-68 (suburbs-city).

The Weekend

Forecast Confidence: medium-highChance of showers Saturday, cooler Sunday. A strong cold front will move through the area Saturday, bringing a pretty good chance of showers and/or thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. High temperatures will probably be in the 80s. Much cooler air will filter into the area Saturday night (50s in the suburbs to near 60 downtown). The way it looks now, Sunday will have a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid 70s.
