I hope I have an appetite for crow this week -- I may be eating it.
There may actually be two opportunities for winter-like weather this week:
1) Late Monday night into Tuesday: A low will develop in the Tennessee valley as area of high pressure builds to our north and west. As the low approaches, a cold rain will fall which may mix with snow -- especially in the high spots and well north and west of the city.
2) Wednesday night into Thursday, with cold air already in place, another low will approach the area from the west before reforming and perhaps rapidly intensifying off the Virginia capes. The precipitation type is unclear at this point, but some potential exists for snow.
Stay tuned, and if necessary, we'll update the Storm Center.
