Keeping an eye on the Monday night/Tuesday storm...

Jason Samenow @ 10:33 PM

As I mentioned in my previous post, our first shot at wintry weather this week will be Monday night and Tuesday. It looks like areas north and west of a line from Dulles to Baltimore may see a period of snow late Monday night into Tuesday morning and perhaps a light accumulation before changing to rain Tuesday afternoon. Inside the beltway, expect a rain/snow mix late Monday night that should go over to all rain during the day Tuesday.

The models have been going back and forth with regards to the amount of cold air that will filter in and out of the area during this storm. I'll be keeping a close eye on model trends tomorrow. If it trends colder and it looks like there could be accumulating snow in the DC area, we'll kick up the Storm Center and do an accumulation map. If it looks like a mostly a rain event (like it does right now), we'll keep all the storm coverage within the Blog.

As for the Wednesday night/ Thursday winter weather threat -- not a lot to say except that the snow threat looks diminshed. More on that after we get done with the upcoming event.
