Weekend outlook...

Jason Samenow @ 11:40 PM

As of now, Saturday appears to be the better day of the two. It will be quite warm and humid, but any rain should hold off until after dark. It will be a decent day to check out the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks' 12th annual Wine in the Woods festival. Temperatures should once again be in the mid to high 80s during the afternoon.

There should be some rain Saturday night associated with a cold front which will finally provide some relief from the heat and humidity. However, it's unclear how quickly the front will move out of the area Sunday. If it hangs around, rain could persist during the day Sunday, OR, it could clear and be quite pleasant with temperatures in the 70s and low humidity. Right now, I'll call for lingering clouds and showers Sunday morning and partial clearing in the afternoon. I'll update this forecast on Friday.

Finally, I caught the exclusive 10-minute preview of "The Day After Tomorrow" on FOX last night. I had already read the script, but after seeing some of the dramatic special effects, I'm now officially pumped up for this movie. The scenarios presented are preposterous, but I think it will be highly entertaining.

Maybe it's because I've been paying special attention, but it seems the publicity for this movie exceeds any I've seen before. Extended previews during prime time TV, billboards plastered all over the city, daily articles in the press... Can the movie live up to the hype?
