Scattershooting around the world of weather...

Jason Samenow @ 11:08 PM

For starters, I'll mention there is a threat of strong storms today as a front moves through the area. With strong winds aloft and an unstable atmosphere, a few severe storms could develop late in the afternoon into the evening. Check here for updates later in the day.

Speaking of severe storms, the Midwest and Tennessee Valley have been ravaged by severe storms over the last few days with scores of tornadoes, incidences of hail and flooding rain.

Hard to believe, but yesterday marked the official start of hurricane season. It should be another active season and tropical expert Bill Gray cautions we're due "to see hurricane damage like you've never seen it."

Here in DC, after we get past tomorrow (except for a slight chance of an isolated shower/storm Thursday), the weather is looking good... comfortable temperatures and low humidity at least through Saturday...before the next system approaches and cranks up the humidity and rain/storm chances.
