Festival and football forecasts...

Jason Samenow @ 12:22 AM

It's shaping up to be an outstanding weekend weatherwise. Yesterday, DCist posted about Blocktober Fest which will fill the streets of Arlington with beer, music and activities on Saturday. The weather will cooperate for the festivities with partly cloudy skies and high temps in the low 80s. Not to be outdone, indicates Barktober Fest will occur on Sunday in Sterling. According to the event description, it's all of the following: music festival/carnival/adoption event/fundraiser (sponsored by the Friends of Homeless Animals). Weather looks good for Sunday as well, with scattered clouds and highs near 80. For other weekend activities, the Washington Post's weekend section is always a good place to go.

Onto the gridiron...

The Virgina Tech Hokies face the Wolfpack from NC State in Blacksburg Saturday. Kickoff is at noon. Expect partly cloudy skies with temps in the mid 70s during the game. Score prediction: Hokies 24, Pack 10

The Wahoos (of Virginia) have their third straight home contest and will face Syracuse at 3:30pm. Fans headed to Charlottesville will be comfortable in shorts with temperature in the mid 70s (end of game) to low 80s (beginning of game). Score prediction: 'Hoos 34, Orange 17

Season prediction record: 6-1

The Terps and Ravens are away this weekend and the Skins play Monday night (vs. Dallas). I'll provide my forecast for the Skins game on Sunday.
