The return of Jeanne...and Ivan?

Jason Samenow @ 11:00 PM

Track forecast for JeanneWith such benign weather affecting our area, it would be nice to bask in the sunshine and write Haikus each day. But the tropics provide no time for rest or reflection.

The great meanderer, Hurricane Jeanne, is now projected to make a decisive about face and head back towards the southeast coast of the U.S. Whether she actually makes landfall is still unclear, but it's time to start paying attention to her again. She's currently holding her own as a Category 1 hurricane.

As for Ivan, he's not really making a return. But a piece of the trough that took him out to sea has broken off and lingers in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Says the Tropical Prediction Center :
ALTHOUGH UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT AT THIS TIME...CONDITIONS MAY BECOME AL LITTLE MORE CONDUCIVE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS THE SYSTEM MOVES TOWARD THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO.
I'll leave you with a couple of interesting reads:
