Weekend weather...

Jason Samenow @ 12:37 AM

For one post, I'm going to take a break from Frances (next Frances update by 9:00am today), and just talk DC Weather for the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

By and large, the Friday through Monday forecast looks excellent. Hurricane Frances will not affect us during this period. Expect partly sunny and comfortable days with highs in the low 80s and about average humidity. The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of showers or storms the afternoon/evening of Labor Day, but I believe rain chances are low. All in all, fine weather for all of the events happening around town this weekend (profiled in the Washington Post).

A couple local football games of note this weekend:

The 'Redskins will play their final preseason game against (former Virginia star) Matt Schaub and the Atlanta Falcons on Friday evening (at Fedex Field). Expect a very pleasant evening for taking in the action. Temperatures should be in the highs 70s at kickoff (at 7pm) falling to the low 70s by game's end. I won't bother predicting the score for a preseason game.

The Terps face the Huskies of Northern Illinois (who they lost to last year) at Byrd Stadium. Kickoff is at 6pm Saturday. The weather looks good and temps will be in the same range as the 'Skins game (high 70s falling to the low 70s) the previous night. My score forecast: Terps 28, Huskies 10

Enjoy what should be a very nice holiday weekend. Check in for daily updates on Frances.
