This week...and a couple other notes

Happy Columbus Day...

It's beautiful out there, albeit a bit brisk. Don't expect temperatures to get much warmer than about 65 today with a northwesterly breeze at about 10-20mph.

Tonight it will be on the cold side, with lows in the mid 40s in the city, and high 30s in the colder suburbs.

Tomorrow should be another great day, with temperatures a shade warmer than today -- near 70 for the high.

On Wednesday, expect increasing clouds and rain showers possible late with temperatures in the 60s. The upper level low that will produce the rain will likely just sit in spin -- so clouds, cool temperatures and scattered rain showers will persist through Thursday.

By Friday, there may be some partial clearing -- with temperatures remaining cool -- expect highs in the 60s.

TV Weather News: DCRTV.net reports on two local changes in TV weather:

According to the Washington Times, readers are very upset about Channel 9's (WUSA) decision to "dump" morning weathercaster Hillary Howard. No word on her replacement.

And Channel 4 (WRC) has hired a new weather producer and fill-in forecaster -- Chuck Bell who has done weather in a number of cities including Oklahoma City and Roanoke.

The Tropics: Last, there is a (sub)tropical storm out in the Atlantic -- Nicole. She is expected to turn extratropical and pound Nova Scotia with rain, wind and high seas in 36-48 hours.
