A word about Bill Kamal

Per yesterday's post, former Channel 9 (WUSA) Meteorologist Bill Kamal was arrested for allegedly making arrangements over the Internet to meet a minor for sex. Kamal, the Chief Meteorologist at WSVN, the Fox Affiliate in Miami, FL -- enjoyed tremendous popularity in that television market. But given the charges, the station had no choice but to fire him. This article, from the station he was fired from, provides quite a few details about the events leading up to his arrest and the charges against him.
Washingtonians may remember him as having a strong on-camera presence and excellent command of meteorology during his years at Channel 9. He worked side by side with Doug Hill, now Chief Meteorologist at Channel 7 (WJLA) before he was let go in the winter of 1993.
I chatted with Kamal a couple times at different meteorology conferences and he seemed like a good guy. Unfortunately, it's pretty clear he has some issues and made some pretty bad choices. Of course, he's innocent until proven guilty but from the sound of things, it doesn't look good for him.
