Holiday weekend forecast

Jason Samenow @ 8:33 AM

Photo by Kevin AmbroseHope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and that you kept your power. Yesterday's fierce winds knocked out power to thousands across the area according to the Washington Post. If you're headed out to the mall, the winds will be much calmer today with high pressure over the area. Sunshine will be plentiful but temperatures will be on the cool side with highs in the upper 40s.

The weekend itself looks ok weatherwise. On Saturday, expect increasing clouds with highs around 50. Some rain showers are possible Saturday night as a clipper system moves through. For Sunday, expect a mix of clouds and sun, with highs in the low 50s.

Just one area football forecast to highlight this weekend...

On Saturday, Virginia faces Virginia Tech in Blacksburg at Lane Stadium (kickoff 1pm). During the first half clouds will increase, and there's a good chance of showers during the second half. Temperatures should be between 45 and 50 during the game. Score prediction: Hokies 17, Cavs 13

Season prediction record 19-7
