Sunday/Monday "storm"

Jason Samenow @ 11:43 AM

Essentially, there isn't going to be a storm Sunday/Monday. A cold front will approach the area tomorrow afternoon and there is a chance there could be some light precipitation associated with it. The "storm" that looked like it might form earlier in the week will develop too far to the east and out to sea to affect us.

Because temperatures will be in the 40s tomorrow afternoon, any precipitation at the onset (late in afternoon) is likely to fall as light rain or sprinkles. After dark, remaining precipitation would likely change to snow showers or flurries with no more than a dusting accumulating. But I'd only say there's a 50/50 chance we'll see one flake of snow.

Storm Assessment (from noon Sunday to noon Monday)
Storm impact:
Travelcast: (due to wind Monday)
Schoolcast (for Monday, all area schools):

The real story will be the wind and the cold Sunday night and Monday behind the front. Temperatures will fall through the 20s Sunday night and likely not get out of the 20s Monday afternoon. Factor in winds gusting as high as 30 mph, and wind chills will be in the single digits.

Here's AccuWeather's assessment of a White Christmas across the US: "I'm Dreaming...". I don't disagree. Possible, but not likely for the area. More on next week's weather tomorrow.
