Weekend outlook and more...

Jason Samenow @ 1:37 AM

While the weather is a bit bleak today, the weekend will be brighter. Expect drizzle and low clouds this morning and then scattered showers later in the afternoon and evening -- with highs around 50. I'm expecting today's rainfall totals will be less than 0.25". (By the way, yesterday 0.65" fell at National, 0.58" at BWI and 0.74" at Dulles)

Saturday
will be mostly sunny and breezy. Decent weather for holiday shopping. High temperatures should be between 50-55. It will feel cooler than that, however, when you factor in the wind. Dress warmly.

Sunday will be the nicest day of the weekend, with sunshine and winds a bit lighter than Saturday. High temperatures will again be 50-55.

The Redskins play Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx Field. Game time is 8:30pm (ESPN). Expect generally clear skies, with temperatures falling from 45 at kickoff to about 41 by game's end. Dress warmly. Score prediction: Eagles 24, Redskins 17.

Season prediction: 21-7

Odds and Ends
  • AccuWeather has posted probabilities for a White Christmas across the U.S. The DC area is on the border of the 0-25% and 25-50% chance contour. For some reason, I seem to remember our area has about a 15-20% probability of a White Christmas. But I could be wrong. I'll do some research and report back on our odds next week.
  • As previously reported, Hillary Howard's tenure at WUSA (Channel 9) ended. DCRTV.net has learned that WUSA hired a replacement. Her name is Kim Martucci and she comes from Wilkes-Barre, PA (WBRE-TV). Her bio is still up on the Wilkes-Barre site if you want to learn more about her. Looks like she has strong credentials (degree in meteorology from Cornell, awards, and experience in several TV markets).
  • Here's a good article on the National Weather Service's new partnership policy from GovExec.com.
