Jason Samenow @ 1:50 AM

Flash flood photo by Kevin AmbroseThe rain and wind yesterday were remarkable, and more characteristic of a spring-like storm than a winter storm. Dulles Airport set a daily rainfall record as 1.3" fell, significantly exceeding the previous record of 0.96" set back in 1963. Here are some other notable rainfall totals:

National Airport: 0.89"
BWI: 1.03"
Hagerstown, Md: 1.4"
College Park, Md: 0.85"
Centreville, Va: 1.38"

Winds were also quite strong. Here are some of the peak wind gusts:

National Airport: 44mph
BWI: 31mph
Dulles: 36mph
Luray, Va: 63mph

For a more complete list of yesterday's precipitation and wind extremes, see the National Weather Service's Public Information Statements.
