Instead of warmer-than-normal mostly sunny conditions,
we can expect cooler-than-normal mostly cloudy conditions today. Northeasterly flow should hold high temperatures in the low to mid 70s -- which will feel refreshing after yesterday's record high of 93 degrees at Dulles Airport. A few sprinkles can not be ruled out, particularly in the afternoon. All in all, good weather if you're headed to the mall for the
pro and anti Iraq war rallies.
Rita UpdateRita will have made landfall (as a Category 3 hurricane), probably near Cameron, Louisiana by the time most people are reading this. Fortunately, Houston will not get a direct hit from this storm. Unfortunately, the storm surge and wind in southwest Louisiana will be devastating. Also, portions of western Louisiana and eastern Texas may see obscene rainfall amounts due to Rita's slow projected movement.
