The week ahead

Jason Samenow @ 12:30 AM

We'll start off the week warm and wet, before it transitions to becoming cool and dry late in the week. That much is pretty certain. The real forecast challenge is likely to emerge by late in the weekend.

Daily Details

Today, a warm front will pass through the area early in the day. Nonetheless, low clouds and an easterly wind will prevent temperatures from soaring, and highs should max out in the upper 50s.

Tomorrow, a cold front will cross the area, with a wave running along it to enhance rainfall potential. With strong southerly flow, temperatures should reach the low to mid 60s. Rain chances will be highest in the afternoon and evening, when 0.5-1" of rain could fall.

On Wednesday, winds will shift to westerly behind the cold front. The air behind said front won't be that cold, and temperatures should reach the low 50s under partial sunshine. (This is about average for this team of the year)

On Thursday , colder air arrives late as another front moves through. But temperatures should reach about 50 degrees before the front passes.

Friday and Saturday promise to be partly sunny and cold, as high pressure builds in from the north and west. High temperatures should only be around 40 degrees.

Clouds should begin to increase Saturday night and Sunday as an area of storminess develops to our southwest. Depending on its exact timing and track, some light rain or snow could develop late Sunday. High temperatures should be near 40.

Normal highs this week are in the low 50s, with lows in the mid 30s
