Sunday update

Jason Samenow @ 12:00 AM

A cold front will pass through the area around midday, thwarting any real chance of a significant warmup. While temperatures should rise to near 40 by noon, they won't rise much after that. Still, there will be some sunshine mixed in with the clouds -- so not a terrible day. This front will set the stage for another colder than average work week which will be described in complete detail tomorrow.

Briefly:

  • Just as we covered the start of the ski season here yesterday, your WeatherTalkRadio Guys -- Justin Berk and Tony Pann -- will be talking skiing on their show today on WCBM 680 in Baltimore at 3pm.
  • Media Bistro reports weatherman Tony Perkins finished up his stint at Good Morning America last week and will rejoin FOX5 as their morning weatherman in January. (Admittedly, this is old news, but we've had some storms to cover.)
  • Apparently, The Weather Channel's Podcasts are 'A Hit' according to MediaWeek. I have yet to listen to them.
  • More on the Boston "thundersnowstorm" from the Boston Globe (link courtesy WxNation's Wire). Snowfall rates reached 5"/hour and CapitalWeather.com contributor Andrew Freedman reports his father's office building in Boston lost power due to lightning.

Commentary: I think it's pretty likely there will be a period of frozen precipitation late Wednesday. How long it stays frozen and how much falls are the questions for which answers will slowly emerge in the coming days.
