Winter, Part II

Jason Samenow @ 12:53 PM

The first two weeks of December brought snow and cold. For the last six weeks or so, winter took a LOONG hiatus, but it's now primed to return. The cold front/thunderstorms yesterday helped trigger a regime shift, and conditions are going to gradually get colder.

This afternoon and tonight

It will be partly cloudy and breezy this afternoon, with temperatures steady in the low to mid 40s. Northwest winds from 15-25mph will make it feel like the 30s. Tonight, winds will subside and temperatures will fall into the upper 20s downtown and the low and mid 20s in the suburbs.

The week ahead, which will be profiled tomorrow, should feature seasonable temperatures during the week, but an Arctic blast looks likely sometime during the weekend.

Next Chance of Accumulating Snow: Friday through Sunday, Feb 10-12
Probability: 20%
Potential Impact:

Commentary: A strong Arctic front will move through the region next weekend. Light snow/snow showers are possible. There is a small chance a coastal storm could develop which would increase chances of accumulating snow. We'll have to wait and see.
