Cool Friday Plus Scattered Afternoon Showers

A. Camden Walker @ 4:32 AM

Forecast: Seventy & Sunny

It is a great final day of your workweek -- just be sure to dress for cool 50s temperatures this morning and grab the pocketbook umbrella. We will all be mostly sunny today with a high temperature right at 70. Nationals fans should prepare for sprinkles to wet their seat slightly prior to their arrival tonight, but the Orioles-Nationals showdown will remain comfortable and dry (see Natcast at bottom of post).
How much will the broken prevent our warming?

Mostly clear conditions today will allow lots of sunshine but expect breezy conditions behind the cold front passing through this morning -- last showers are finally moving away as the morning commute begins. Tonight should dip into the upper 40s in most spots, maybe only to 52 in the middle of downtown. Skies will be partly cloudy most of the night.

Saturday & Sunday: May Coolness Continues

morning clouds will prohibit getting above 70° fastSaturday should be fantastic. After our cool start, early morning clouds will break and allow for sunshine to warm us into the lower 70s. Wear the sunscreen and early morning windbreaker.

Sunday will be warmer, with upper 70s south of town, but 75 degrees should be easy to attain for most of us. Be cautious during the afternoon, however. Increasing clouds may have an accompanying shower. But these showers should remain few and far between, I'd say. Expect, too, the other persistent feature of our pattern (besides stray showers in the afternoon) -- breezy conditions. We won't be able to kick this cycle until our pattern shifts later next week.

Weekend Activities

SATURDAY - May 20th National Kidney Foundation Chili Cook-off:
Come eat (or cook) for a good cause! The Annual National Kidney Foundation Chili Cook-off at 12th & C Streets, SW, looks like a delicious way to support charity this weekend! You'll have sunny weather, a cool start, but great afternoon conditions.

SATURDAY - 7:05 pm Nats @ RFK:
No rain is in store, and pleasant weather shall prevail.  Temperatures start in the lower 70s but dip to the lower 60s at game's end. You might get chilly after sunset, so dressing in layers might be wise. Sunscreen is advised for all of you sitting on the sunny east (west-facing) side of RFK!

SUNDAY - Noon till 5pm Taste of Arlington:
What a great day for Ballston to host a street festival. Enjoy the fun, the games, and FOOD! It should be pretty perfect by noon, with temperatures rising above 65 degrees under bright sunshine. If you go out closer to the (5pm) end of the festival, you might want to grab an umbrella.

Additionally: Check BackFence.com for outdoor (and indoor!) activities this weekend.
