Happy Mother's Day. Have the raincoats and umbrellas handy today -- on and off showers are likely throughout the day.
Forecast
A broad area of low pressure over West Virginia will move southeastward -- setting off rain showers that will pivot from southwest to northeast most of the day. There will be occasional breaks in the rain -- but the bands of showers should be persistent enough to disrupt outdoor activities. An isolated thunderstorm is even possible -- especially south of the DC area.
Rainfall totals through this evening should be in the range of 0.5" -- with locally higher amounts possible. Cloud cover will hold high temperatures in the low to mid 60s. The intermittent rain shower activity will continue overnight and probably into Monday. Your complete week ahead forecast will appear tomorrow.
