Another nice day; Keeping an eye on TD1

Jason Samenow @ 8:26 AM

Today

Nice Day StampAfter a cool start (some upper 40s in the suburbs, low to mid 50s inside the beltway), temperatures will recover nicely under plenty of sunshine this morning. Northwest flow will keep high temperatures cooler than average, with highs 74-77. During the mid to late afternoon, there may be some increase in cloud cover, but all in all, it will be a very pleasant Sunday. Tomorrow, the forecast for the week ahead (which looks quite nice) will appear in detail.

Tropical update--Tropical Depression 1 (TD1) Hanging On

TD1 has not discernibly strengthened since this time yesterday as it has moved into the central Gulf of Mexico. It has a well defined low level circulation, but most of the convection is east of the center due to southwest shear. Most track guidance continues to take it towards the big bend of western Florida and then up the East Coast (but offshore). However, there is another scenario in which the depression drifts due northward towards the central Gulf states. If the first scenario pans out, it could bring us some showers Wednesday, but I tend to think it would be far enough offshore that effects on the immediate DC area would be minimal.
