Extreme Heat Wave Headed Towards DC -- Temperatures well into the 90s with high humidity -- for much of the coming weekPreparation TipsToday marks the first day of a long and significant heat wave. It appears this will be the hottest weather since at least 2002.
Today
Hot, moderately humid. As a massive ridge of hot high pressure moves in -- essentially a huge heat dome -- temperatures will reach the low 90s under mostly sunny skies. Humidity levels (dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s) will not be as high as yesterday, but still a bit uncomfortable. Skies will be mostly sunny, so wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water if you're outside.
