Nice Labor Day, Damp Start to Work Week

Jason Samenow @ 10:15 AM

The weather today will be a lot like yesterday -- a mix of sun and clouds, but probably more clouds. Tomorrow looks to be a rainy day. Meanwhile, the tropics are firing up.

Today

Nice Day StampPleasant today, rain tonight late. We'll have a partly sunny day today with very comfortable temperatures. Expect highs in the upper 70s. Rain should move in late tonight.

Tomorrow

Forecast Confidence: HighRainy. A frontal wave will produce rain, which could be heavy at times. By Tuesday night, rainfall totals could reach 1-2", with locally high amounts. Cloud cover will allow highs to only reach around 70.

Matt will have more on the midweek forecast tomorrow, and I'll offer weekend details on Wednesday, filling in for Dan.

Commentary: TD 6, about 1200 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, is likely to become a tropical storm today (Florence). It should continue to gradually strengthen as it travels due westward for the next several days. The large scale pattern and the storm's track are such that Florence could threaten the East Coast in about a week--but it could also go out to sea. Definitely a storm to watch.
