Briefly mild conditions arrive today only to be replaced by a cold stretch starting tomorrow, likely to last for a while.
Today
Increasing clouds, mild. Mostly sunny skies this morning will likely give way to mostly cloudy skies by late this afternoon. Southerly flow ahead of an advancing cold front will allow temperatures to warm 15-20 degrees from yesterday's readings, with highs near 50. Tonight, that cold front will pass through the area, but will not have much moisture to work with. We'll have mostly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of rain showers, possibly changing to snow showers pre-dawn, with lows in the low to mid 30s.
Tomorrow
Turning colder. Behind the cold front, it will turn a bit breezy and chilly. We'll have a mix of sun and clouds -- and perhaps a flurry or two in the afternoon, with highs in the low 40s early in the afternoon, falling into the 30s by dark.
Snow Lover's Crystal Ball: Where Art Thou?
Tonight's snow chances, as earlier discussed, are pretty slim -- as the precipitation is likely to start as rain and the front is pretty much starved of moisture. Furthermore, temperatures will mostly be above freezing.
The 6-10 period does show a bit of promise -- although there's been no consistency in what computer models are showing. So the Snow Lover's Crystal Ball criteria of at least a 20% chance of accumulating snow has not been reached. Working in the snow lover's favor is a sustained cold period. The longer it stays cold, the better the chance a winter storm will finally materialize.
