This weekend will have mixed results as the battle between cooler air and warmer air sets up over our area.
Today
Showers, Cool. Today will be cloudy and cool. There is a 50-50 chance of light rain off and on, especially north. Temperatures will be steady in the mid to upper 50s with a wind from the northeast.
Tonight and Tomorrow
Sun, Warmer. Tonight will be cloudy with a chance of some lingering light rain. Overnight lows will only drop to the upper 40s. Sunday looks like the better of the weekend days. The sun will come out in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 60s.
Cherry Blossoms
One week from today the 95th celebration of the original gift of cherry trees from Tokyo to Washington D.C. begins. The
National Cherry Blossom Festival runs from March 31 through April 15 this year, with an expected peak during
the first weekend of April. A parade beginning on Constitution Avenue will highlight the final weekend of the celebrations on April 14. A quick look at the forecast for the beginning of the festival indicates a chance for cooler and stormier than normal weather that is likely to moderate as the bloom progresses.
