The weekend: Cloudy and cool, damp but few downpours

Jason Samenow @ 8:30 AM

After beautiful sunshine and enjoyable temperatures for much of the work week, clouds, cooler temperatures and some rain are here just in time for the weekend. The one saving grace is that the rain will not be persistent nor terribly heavy.

Today

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighIncreasing clouds, cool. For early risers, the day may start off promising with sunshine shining through some high clouds. But by mid to late morning, clouds will lower and thicken as damp northeasterly flow settles in. Some light showers are possible (30% chance) by late afternoon, especially south and west of Washington. High temperatures will be cool -- only in the mid to upper 50s. Overnight, generally light rain showers will become more numerous with temperatures dropping only slightly -- into the mid to upper 40s.

Sunday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighSpotty showers -- cool. A warm front will slowly move through the area resulting in intermittent shower activity. It should not be a washout, but will be overcast and cool, with highs again in the mid to upper 50s.
