The Week Ahead: Stupendous Springtime

Jason Samenow @ 8:20 AM

But for the possibility of a few showers Tuesday night into early Wednesday, the week ahead should amaze weatherwise. From enjoyable 80 degree warmth to start the week, to refreshing 70 degree temperatures later on, the weather should generate few complaints.

Today

Nice Day StampPartly to mostly sunny, warm. Today will be just like yesterday except a few degrees higher -- and with a few very isolated showers this morning. High pressure will bring us sunshine and pleasantly warm temperatures by afternoon, with highs 80-84. Overnight, it will be clear, with lows 48-54 (suburbs-city)

Tuesday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighPartly sunny and warm, showers at night? Expect another warm day. With a back door cold front sinking south, we may see some increase in cloud cover, especially late in the day. High temperatures should once again be in the low 80s, although locations just to the north may only reach the mid 70s. Overnight, showers are possible as the front moves through, with lows 53-57 (suburbs-city).

Wednesday

Forecast Confidence: MediumBecoming partly sunny, a bit cooler. The cold front is likely to have cleared the area by morning, but cooler air in its wake will only slowly seep southward. High temperatures will probably be a bit lower than Monday and Tuesday, but still mild -- with highs in the low to mid 70s. Overnight, it should be clear and cool, with lows 42-48 (suburbs-city).

Thursday

Forecast Confidence:Medium-HighPartly to mostly sunny, refreshing. Cool high pressure will begin building in from the northwest. Despite the cool northwesterly flow, the strong early May sun will likely allow high temperatures to approach 70 degrees. Overnight, expect clear and cool conditions, with lows 42-48 (suburbs-city)

Friday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighMostly sunny, pleasant. Friday will likely be a carbon copy of Thursday -- but perhaps a few degrees warmer. Expect plentiful sunshine and seasonably mild conditions, with highs in the low 70s. Overnight, it will likely be clear, with lows 45-50 (suburbs-city).

The Weekend

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighSeasonably warm and dry. As of now, next weekend looks very nice weatherwise. High pressure will likely gradually move offshore, setting up southerly winds and progressively warmer temperatures each day. On Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid 70s. On Sunday, expect a mix of sun and clouds, with highs near 80.
