Considerate temperatures, considerable clouds

Jason Samenow @ 9:45 AM

While this weekend won't serve up the best May has to offer, it certainly won't be a dud either and looks better than it did yesterday. Mostly dry conditions will characterize both days along with moderating and pleasantly mild temperatures. There's only the slightest chance that a shower or two will put a damper on outdoor activities -- perhaps Sunday afternoon.

Today

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighPartly cloudy, breezy -- slim shower chance. As a slow-moving upper level low departs today, we'll have mix of clouds and sun and breezy conditions. By late in the afternoon and towards evening, there is a 20% chance of showers, but mostly north and east of town. Mid to late afternoon high temperatures will likely be around 70 with a 10-20mph northwesterly breeze. For the 132nd running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico (near Baltimore), temperatures should be in the mid 60s at post time.

Overnight, it will be partly to mostly cloudy with a continued slight chance of showers mainly to our north and east. Low temperatures will be in the low 50s.

Tomorrow

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighStill mostly cloudy with small shower risk, a bit warmer. Somewhat warmer air will try to sneak in here Sunday before a back door cold front approaches late in the day. Said front may trigger a shower during the late afternoon, but chances are pretty low (around 20%). Ahead of the front, despite considerable cloud cover, temperatures should warm to the mid and upper 70s. It will remain breezy, with west winds 10-15 mph.
