Weekend Forecast of Pessimism: Pesky Precip?

A. Camden Walker @ 10:00 AM

Instead of a chronological rundown, here's a forecast summary in order-of-optimism: Sunday looks keen with the least chance of rain this weekend; Saturday will have clouds and some showers in the area with an evening T-storm?; Today appears to be cool, damp, and rife with showers, especially around midday. Let's see what can be salvaged...

Today

Foul Fifties. Neither temperatures nor overcast skies are going anywhere today. If we see 60 degrees, count us lucky. The highest potential for impactful rain will be midday into mid-afternoon today. Evening Rush mayyyy scrape by dry, before one last batch of showers runs through the Metro Area by 8pm. Dress in a few layers today since cool northerly breezes will feel unforgiving without sunshine to ameliorate.

The Undesirable Weekend

Our grey weather pattern for the timebeing, as depicted by AccuWeather.com.

Saturday

Showers more likely than Sun. Nighttime conditions languishing in the 50s, temperatures will struggle to, once again, get above 60 degrees. It will be difficult with afternoon showers and a downpour possible after 4pm. Winds will also be variable, but gusty at times. We have a pesky upper-low pressure system stalled over us and it is not going anywhere fast since it is cut off from the Jet Stream. Yes this is a low-confidence forecast, but in these situations of cut-off flow, I believe the murky scenario is much more likely for Saturday.

Sunday

Much Improved. From the drying conditions and 50 degree temperatures overnight, skies will continue to break after sunrise. Winds will pickup and clear up our dampness, as high temperatures hit or even surpass 70 degrees! An afternoon "instability shower" cannot be ruled out; but, this should be the best day of the weekend.
