The Week Ahead: Lots of Clouds
Clearing likely towards the weekend

Jason Samenow @ 12:00 AM

The offshore weather system that caused Sunday's surprising cloud cover and shower activity, appears poised to stick around. As a result, clouds and intermittent shower chances will persist through much of the work week. It may not be until Friday or the weekend that we're in the clear...

Today

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighPartly sunny, isolated late day showers. Just like yesterday, we should have a good deal of cloud cover with occasional peaks of sun. A spotty shower or two can't be ruled out, especially late in the afternoon and into the evening. High temperatures should be in the low 80s. Overnight, it will be partly cloudy, with lows 60-65 (suburbs-city)

The Upcoming Week at a Glance

Warmest Day: Sunday, High 90.
Coldest Day: Wednesday, High 76.
Rain Chances: Monday (20%), Tuesday (20%), Wednesday (40%), Thursday (30%)
Dry Days: Friday and The weekend.
The Week's Wild Cards: When will the offshore low pressure system finally pull away and allow for clearing? How much shower activity will the offshore low produce? How much will the cloud cover from the low hold down temperatures?
Climatological Average High/Low: 84-85/65-66

Tuesday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighMostly cloudy, a few showers possible. Tomorrow will be a lot like today and the previous day: lots of clouds, glimpses of sun, seasonable temperatures and a slight shower risk (30%). High temperatures should be in the low 80s with overnight lows 60-65 (suburbs-city).

Wednesday

Forecast Confidence: MediumCloudy, increased shower chances. As the offshore low sinks southward, a back door cold front is likely to pass through the area. Accordingly, we'll probably be dealing with quite a bit in the way of cloud cover along with increased shower chances. The clouds will likely hold temps down in the mid 70s. Overnight, clouds may diminish a bit, with lows 60-65.

Thursday

Forecast Confidence:Medium-HighNot yet in the clear. The offshore low will still be close enough to possibly keep us under the influence of the moist marine flow. So, once again, we should have more clouds than sun and the continued risk, albeit slight, of some scattered showers. High temperatures will likely be in the upper 70s. Overnight, a few clouds are possible, with lows 60-65.

Friday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighDecreasing clouds, warmer. As the offshore low finally begins to weaken and drift away, high pressure will build in from the west. Of the work week days, Friday has the best chance of seeing less than 50/50 cloud cover and no rain. High temperatures may reach the low 80s. Overnight, look for clear skies, with lows 60-65 (suburbs-city).

The Weekend

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighMostly sunny, warmer. As of now, high pressure looks to take firm control over the weather by the weekend. We should have plenty of sunshine both days, with highs in the mid 80s Saturday warming to nearly 90 by Sunday. Overnight lows should range from the mid 60s to near 70 (suburbs-city).
