Weekend Brings Summer Treat
Sweltering conditions build quickly during coming week

Dan Stillman @ 12:00 PM

Enjoy what is expected to be a lovely weekend by most any standard, especially for the Washington DC area in late June. But get the outdoors out of your system today and tomorrow -- building heat and humidity will have you looking for the air-conditioned indoors this coming workweek.

Saturday and Sunday

Forecast Confidence: High-Very HighPretty darn great. A great weekend is on tap for the entire region. Abundant sunshine both today and tomorrow with highs hitting the low 80s today amidst extremely low humidity. Warmer with rising but still comfortable humidity levels tomorrow, highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Can't rule out the slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Monday to Wednesday

Forecast Confidence: HighHeating up, and quickly. An impressive heat wave quickly sets in. Temperatures should pop into the low 90s for highs on Monday with high humidity. The stickiness increases for Tuesday and Wednesday as highs reach the low-to-mid 90s and the heat index nears 100. All three days may carry at least a chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.
