Refreshing Fall Air Arrives
Suburbs could see lows in the 40s tonight

Dan Stillman @ 12:40 PM

Behind the cold front that passed through last night, clouds and mugginess have been replaced with clear skies and low humidity. With the possible exception of Friday into early Saturday, sunny days and cool nights are here to stay through the weekend.

Today

Nice Day StampFantastically Fall. In stark contrast to yesterday's humid, dreary and showery conditions, today will feature blue skies, bright sunshine and refreshingly dry air. Highs will be near average, around 80 degrees, with winds out of the northwest near 10 mph. Tonight, mostly clear and cool with calm winds and lows from the upper 40s to near 50 in the suburbs to the mid-to-upper 50s downtown.

Tomorrow

Forecast Confidence: High-Very HighJust as nice. Expect another great day with mostly sunny skies and highs near 80. Overnight, partly cloudy with lows from the upper 50s to near 60 in the suburbs to the low-to-mid 60s downtown.

Friday

Forecast Confidence: Low-MediumMore humid; clouds? ... showers/storms late? There's some question as to whether our flow will be out of the south or have more of an onshore component. The former would probably leave us partly sunny with highs in the low 80s, while the latter could make us partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the 70s. Either way, you'll likely notice increased humidity, and a shower or thunderstorm is possible in the afternoon or evening (20% chance). Overnight, the chance of showers and storms may increase to 30-40% as the next cold front approaches. Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies with lows in the 60s.

The Weekend

Forecast Confidence: HighReinforcing shot of Fall. The way it looks now, the cold front should come through sometime early Saturday. If that timing holds, then any leftover morning clouds, showers and storms associated with the front should give way to mostly sunny skies by or during the afternoon. Highs will probably reach the mid-to-upper 70s as gusty winds out of the northwest bring in drier air. Saturday night, mostly clear and breezy with lows in the mid 50s downtown, upper 40s to near 50 in the suburbs. On Sunday, winds should calm down as the center of high pressure moves close by, giving us bright sunshine and highs in the low 70s.
