Seasons in Reverse: Fall Back To Summer
Steady warm-up this week

Jason Samenow @ 9:00 AM

Our early taste of fall-like crispness will gradually fade as summer warmth re-emerges in the week ahead. Afternoon highs in the low 70s to start the week will moderate into the low to mid 80s by week's end. Beautiful sunshine and low humidity should stay with us for the duration.

Today

Nice Day StampMostly sunny, enjoyably cool. It will be cool, even cold, when you get up and head out -- with morning lows as chilly as the upper 30s in the outlying suburbs to the upper 40s downtown. Abundant sunshine will allow temperatures to warm to the low to mid 70s in the afternoon. Clear and cool overnight, with lows 45-53 (suburbs-city).

The Upcoming Week at a Glance
Warmest Day: Friday and Saturday, 85.
Coolest Day: Today, 73.
Rain Chances: None.
Dry Days: Week-long.
The Week's Wild Card: Could easterly winds slow the warm-up on Wednesday?
Average High/Low: 79-77/62-59

Tuesday

Forecast Confidence: HighMostly sunny, not as cool. After another crisp morning (many spots in the 40s), temperatures will recover nicely. The cool airmass will have lost some of its punch, and high temperatures should reach the mid to upper 70s. Overnight, expect mainly clear skies with lows 50-55 (suburbs-city).

Wednesday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighMostly sunny, pleasant. Wednesday should be quite similar to Tuesday -- as high pressure continues to dominate the weather over the eastern third of the U.S. Southeasterly flow off the ocean may hold down high temperatures near the Bay and on the Delmarva peninsula -- where a coastal front cold produce some low clouds. Everywhere else, expect mainly sunny skies, with high temperatures 76-81. Clear skies overnight, with lows 52-57 (suburbs-city).

Thursday and Friday

Forecast Confidence: Medium-HighPartly sunny and warm. High pressure will continue to block any inclement weather from affecting the area. All of the cool air will have retreated into Canada allowing the return of 80 degree weather. Some low clouds and cooler weather may linger near the Eastern shore on Thursday. Elsewhere, look for partly to mostly sunny skies both days, with highs in the lows 80s. Overnight lows will moderate a bit, with lows near 60 in the city (mid 50s in the suburbs).

The Weekend

Forecast Confidence: medium-highSunny and warm. The way it looks now, the weekend should be quite nice with sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures as high pressure remains parked over the area. High temperature should reach the low to mid 80s, with overnight lows 58-63 (suburbs-city).
