Gradual Warming as We Head into Thanksgiving

Today


Forecast Confidence: HighCloudy, Mild. Expect some early morning fog and drizzle giving way to overcast skies. The clouds may start to break up late in the day as a warm front approaches DC, but don't bank on it. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 50s. Overnight, skies will gradually clear with lows in the mid to upper 40s.

Wednesday


Forecast Confidence: MediumDry, Very Warm. Wednesday will be partly sunny and very mild ahead of an approaching cold front. Afternoon highs will be well above normal in the low 70s. Overnight, clouds will be on the increase with lows in the low 50s.

Thanksgiving


Forecast Confidence: MediumShowers, Mild. A strong cold front will cross the region on Thanksgiving sparking some light to moderate showers (40%). However, before the cold air can settle in behind it, highs will reach the upper 60s. Expect temperatures to quickly drop in the late evening hours. It will be chilly overnight with lows near 40.

A Look Ahead


  • Much cooler temperatures will settle in on Friday with highs about 5-10 degrees below normal in the mid to upper 40s.
  • The weekend currently looks mostly dry with seasonably cool temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. An approaching storm system from the south may bring some light rain into the area late on Sunday.
